The Torrington Parks and Recreation Department in cooperation with the Warner Theatre is proud to announce that it will be hosting its fifth Northwest Idol Contest.

Please read carefully as the format has changed this year

Registration forms will be available in the Parks and Recreation office located at 153 South Main Street, Torrington CT,  beginning June 13. You may also register online at www.northwestidol.com.      There will be one category this year for ages 15 years and up.  The number of registrations will be limited, so we encourage you to register early.  

Auditions start Saturday, June 25 at 4:00 pm at Coe Park Civic Center, 101 Litchfield Street.  Each contestant will have one minute to introduce himself or herself and perform acapella.  Auditions are closed to the public. This event will be judged by various persons involved in the music profession. Approximately 18 contestants will be chosen to move on to the next level of competition. Contestants chosen to move on will be notified by telephone of their status.  

There will be two semifinal rounds. The first, on Saturday, July 9th and the second date, Saturday, July 30. Both semifinals will be held at Coe Park Civic Center beginning at 7:00 pm and the public is invited to attend.  Contestants will be expected to perform with the accompaniment of D.J. Vin Avallone. The talent pool will be narrowed down after each semifinal.

The final show will be held at the Warner Theatre on Saturday, August 20th.  Tickets will be available for  purchase at the Warner Theatre Box Office. At the finals all the contestants will perform with a live band and must be available to practice with the band before the event.  The band to accompany the contestants this year is the All In Band. There will be a top cash prize in the amount of $1,000.00.

Torrington Parks & Recreation is seeking the support of local businesses and organizations to help offset the costs of this spectacular event. Without the assistance of local businesses and organizations, an event of this magnitude would not be possible. Torrington Parks & Recreation is seeking sponsorship and donations to offset the cost of running the event. They are also looking for sponsorship of one or both of the cash prizes and donations of prizes or gift certificate for the winners.  If your business or organization would be interested in supporting this Torrington Parks and Recreation Department activity and are willing to make a monetary donation you may do so by sending your check to Torrington Parks and Recreation Department, 153 South Main Street, Torrington, Ct. 06790.
